SpectrasonicsOmnisphere is debatably one of the most advanced steps in virtual synthesis so far and has been referred to as ‘the king of software synths’. The instalment of Omnisphere 2 saw a vast range of new possibilities including over 400 new DSP waveforms, 3,000 new patches and soundscapes and an audio import option, allowing users to import their own audio to use it as a sound source, extending the possibilities of Omnisphere further than ever before.

Why stop there though? There are some amazing expansion packs up for grabs; a wide range of cinematic, dark, ambient, dance, minimal and many other great patches are available to buy from Time+Space, and all at very affordable prices. Before you start filling your shopping cart, have a read through this buyer’s guide to get a rundown of which packs are most suited to your needs.

Ambient and Experimental

Omnisphere is the perfect platform for all genres that look to distort the boundaries of music and abandon any sense of tempo or key signature. The complex synthesis engine can morph and twist audio way beyond normality and back again, making it a perfect tool for the avant garde composer.

We paired up with renowned UK sound designer and electronic musician Ian Boddy to bring our first very own and exclusive product, Dark Ambience Patches for Omnisphere 2. Take a journey into the deeper realms of ambience and electronic music with everything from soundscapes, textures, special FX, synth sounds and beyond.

“The patches are like nothing I’ve heard in Omnisphere before, my signature analogue sound wrapped in a cocoon of expressive soundscapes.”- says Ian Boddy, on creating Dark Ambience Patches

The equipment used to create these patches give them such a raw analogue sound and really do credit to the world of analogue synthesis. Here is the list of equipment used:

  • Roland System 100-M
  • Serge Animal, Audio Interface, Dual Oscillator, Klangzeit, CV Matrix Mixer, Dual ADSR, Stereo Mixer & custom panels
  • Analogue Systems
  • Analogue Solutions
  • Doepfer A-100
  • Cwejman SPH2 & FSH1 & MX-4S
  • Make Noise DPO, Wogglebug, Rene, Maths & QMMG
